A Safari Adventure: Embracing the Wild Wonders of Amboseli National Park in Kenya

Image
Embarking on a safari to Amboseli National Park in Kenya is a journey into the heart of the wild, a mesmerizing experience that transcends the boundaries between man and nature. Our adventure was nothing short of extraordinary, filled with encounters with majestic wildlife, cultural immersion, and moments of pure awe.    One of the highlights of our safari was the decision to opt for a private driver and vehicle. This choice granted us the freedom to dictate our pace, linger in the presence of magnificent creatures, and savor the untamed beauty of Amboseli. Our skilled driver, James, not only navigated the terrain with expertise but also shared insightful knowledge about the flora and fauna that surrounded us.    Our journey extended beyond the borders of Amboseli as we visited a nearby Maasai village. The encounter was more than a tourist experience; it was a profound connection with a community whose traditions and way of life have stood the te...

Waking up in Tsavo National Park

Image
Our Spot for the Night  After a star filled night where the milky way shined bright and the wild animal noises woke us up through the night, we made sure there was just enough time to grab a cup of coffee before meeting up with our driver James and heading out for an early morning game drive. We left our camp, Tsavo Sentrim, here in East Tsavo National Park with high hopes and beautiful sunrise colors. Lioness posing for us   One of our first surprises of the morning was a lone lioness. She walked out of the shrubs towards us, but then found a nice mound to plop down on for a bit of a rest. This isn't too out of the ordinary since lions do rest for about 18 hours of the day. The road curved back around behind her so we drove around until we had a great angle looking up at her on her dirt mound. After careful examination through pictures and binoculars we deduced that it was the same female lion we saw yesterday. She did glance up at some elephants in the field behind...

Exploring Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

Taking a Game Drive into the famous Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania, Africa Sunrise over the crater   One of the highlights of any visit to East Africa is a chance to explore the Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area. It is the world's largest inactive, unfilled volcanic craters at around 2,000ft deep and 100sq miles in area. It was voted as one of the seven natural wonders of the world, not in small part to the fact that the huge crater is packed with wild game. Dubbed a UNESCO world heritage site in 1979, everything from prides of lions to herds of buffalo can be seen living down in the crater year round.   We started out from the Crater Lodge at 6:15am, determined to get down into the crater before the rest of the dawdling safari goers. This worked out in our favor, especially since it was New Years Day and most people were still sleeping off the big night before. On our way a couple of our cars had a brief encounter with a serval. It was hunting next to the road and ...
