Once a year a select number of people descend upon the island of Stave for a reunion like no other in the heart of Lake Champlain. The Stave Island party is closing in on its 45th anniversary. The island itself is a beautiful piece of nature complete with wild deer, mink, and a host of other animals. Heidi's grandparents have owned the island since before she was born. This year for the party weekend we could not have asked for better weather.

Usually lots of activities, games, drinking, fires and laughter fill the Stave island party weekends. This would prove to be one of the best. Wakeboarding muscles are sore, slalom skiing was attempted, smores cooked over the fire, bathing in the lake, dinners and wine, slosh croquet, and some good natured volleyball describe the weekend.

It was great to see old friends, and make some new ones. The traditional Al's French Fry run capped off the after party. And I bet that everyone involved is already thinking about next year. I know I am.
