The End of the Beginning

The date of our departure is oh so quickly upon us here in Corpus Christi, TX. After a month filled with projects, ordering, mounting, drilling, patching, reordering, and problem solving the Odyssey is looking like a blue water cruiser.
Hopefully a little faster since we spent over an hour scraping thousands of barnacles off the hull, keel, shaft, and propeller, the Odyssey is almost ready for the big crossing to Isla Mujeres. Isla Mujeres will be our first stop. It is an island off the coast of the northeast corner of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. Hopefully checking into Mexican waters will go smoothly there and we wont have to run the gauntlet of hoards of drunk teenagers on spring break right across the way in Cancun.
There are still some last minute projects I will finish up tomorrow but all the food is on and the crew will assemble Wednesday night for dinner and planning and then head out early Thursday morning, February 25th. We are hoping to catch a few little north winds to push us down. The rhumb line is almost directly southeast for us.
With a little luck, fair winds, and following seas we should arrive some time late on Monday, March 2.
